UMCOR Sending Relief Supplies to Victims of Flooding

Flood Buckets are being assembled and shipped to flooded areas of Texas and Louisiana at the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) facility at Sager-Brown in Baldwin, LA.  Our church sent a mission team to this UMCOR site last spring and will be sending another team in March of 2018.

Here is a photo of the assembly line this week! By Wednesday at noon volunteers had verified 28 pallets with 36 cleaning buckets on each pallet. After lunch they started making new buckets from supplies at the depot. 720+ more buckets completed since lunch on Wednesday. You can help meet the need for supplies by donating or volunteering to pack flood buckets.

Two trucks were packed full of cleaning buckets and were headed to Conroe, Tx on Friday, September 1.  That is as far as they could get with roads being blocked. They will wait there until roads are passable and proceed on to get supplies to victims of the flooding so they can begin cleaning up their homes.

You can help providing disaster relief by giving financially by clicking here to donate.  You can also participate by going to Louisiana next Spring to volunteer at the UMCOR Sager-Brown Facility.  We will leave on Friday, March 2, 2018, and return on Saturday, March 10.  If you would like to reserve a spot on this mission trip, write a check for $50 and make it payable to Bethel UMC and write UMCOR Trip 2018 in the memo section.  Include with the check your name, address, email, and cell phone.  May God use our gifts and time to relieve the suffering of the people affected by the floods so that God will be glorified.
